Intel Enhances Performance of Mobile Computing Processors

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 14, 2003--

Introduces Integrated Graphics Chipset for the Mobile Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 Processor-M and Mobile Intel(R) Celeron(R) Processor Families

Intel Corporation today delivered six new mobile processors, including its highest-performing mobile processor to date, the Mobile Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 Processor-M at 2.4 GHz. Additionally, Intel announced an integrated graphics chipset for the mobile PC processor family: the Intel(R) 852GM.

Systems based on the new mobile processors are available from leading computer makers worldwide.

High-Performance Integrated Graphics

Intel introduced the Intel 852GM integrated graphics mobile chipset, which brings advanced levels of performance and flexibility to PC users. When combined with either the Mobile Intel Pentium 4 processor or the mobile Intel(R) Celeron(R) Processor, the chipset delivers the advantages of Double Data-Rate (DDR) 266/200 memory capability and a 400 MHz system bus. The chipset includes six integrated, Hi-Speed Universal Serial Bus (USB) 2.0 ports, which offer 40 times more bandwidth than USB 1.1. PCs equipped with Hi-Speed USB 2.0 capabilities allow users to quickly and easily add peripherals to PCs.

The Intel 852GM chipset supports advanced mobile power management features that help extend battery life, including Enhanced Intel SpeedStep(R) technology, Intel's Deep Sleep and Deeper Sleep.

Benefits of Intel's Mobile Processors

Intel provides a complete family of mobile processors that offers the right combination of high performance and low power consumption to meet the requirements of every notebook market segment. Intel's family of mobile PC processors gives consumers more choice by enabling PC makers to design notebooks of every shape and size.

The Mobile Intel Pentium 4 Processor-M family of mobile processors delivers great performance for full-size, thin-and-light and desktop-replacement notebooks. Notebooks powered by these processors allow users to take advantage of processor-intensive applications such as business multi-tasking, collaborative workgroups, video encoding, digital media and gaming.

The Mobile Intel(R) Pentium(R) III Processor-M enables PC makers to design sleek form factors with good performance and great battery life. Intel also offers the Low Voltage and Ultra Low Voltage Mobile Intel Pentium III Processor-M, which are optimized for mini, sub-notebooks and Tablet PCs -- the smallest systems providing extreme mobility. The Mobile Intel Pentium III Processors are ideal for the Tablet PC market segment, as they provide the best balance of performance and low power.
